Product Description

Overview

Titanium Metal Block is made from pure titanium or a titanium alloy through melting and forging. It possesses excellent corrosion resistance, a high melting point, and good biocompatibility. Its strength is close to that of steel, but its density is only 60% of steel, combining lightweight and high strength. It maintains stable performance in extreme temperatures and harsh environments, and is widely used in aerospace, medical implants, marine engineering, and high-end consumer products. Titanium Advantages

  • It has low density, extremely high specific strength, high toughness and fatigue resistance, and is suitable for long-term dynamic load scenarios.
  • Titanium alloys have an elastic modulus of about 60–110 GPa, which is much lower than steel (200 GPa) and close to the human skeleton (30 GPa), and can reduce stress occlusion for medical implantation.
  • Super corrosion resistance, the surface naturally forms a dense and stable oxide film, with almost no corrosion in seawater, chloride ions, most acids, and alkalis.
  • It has good thermal insulation, a low coefficient of thermal expansion, strong dimensional stability, and is suitable for precision instruments and vacuum environments, especially in high and low temperature fields for long-term use.
  • Good processing performance, can be forged, rolled, turned, and milled, wire cutting, 3D printing, suitable for high-precision parts blanks.

Titanium Block Dimension

Pure Titanium

TA1 It has the lowest impurity content and the best plasticity, making it suitable for applications where high forming performance is required.
TA2 The most commonly used industrial pure titanium has moderate corrosion resistance and comprehensive mechanical properties, with an iron content of ≤ 0.30% and an oxygen content of ≤0.25%.
TA3 It has the highest impurity content and the highest strength and hardness, making it suitable for wear resistance and high-strength requirements.
TA9 It belongs to the non-alloyed titanium with palladium, which is the most corrosion-resistant grade among industrial pure titanium.

Titanium Alloy

TC4 (Ti-6Al-4V) Titanium alloys are most commonly used in the aviation field, which can be used to make key components such as engine components and fuselage structures.
TA7 (Ti-5Al-2.5Sn) The high and low temperature performance is balanced, and it is suitable for low-temperature structural materials below -253°C.
TB6 (Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al) Ultra-high strength β alloy with tensile strength of 1350-1450MPa, suitable for high-strength components such as landing gear support arms.

Application

  1. Aerospace: Titanium Metal Block is forged and processed to manufacture aero engine compressor discs and blades, with a specific strength of up to 23.5, far exceeding that of steel, which can significantly reduce engine weight and increase thrust-to-weight ratio.
  2. Chemical equipment: Titanium blocks made of pure titanium are used to manufacture flanges and sealing rings in chemical equipment, which perform well in seawater and acid-alkali environments, and have a service life far exceeding that of stainless steel.
  3. Marine engineering: Titanium Alloy blocks are used in the manufacture of pressure-resistant shells and key structural parts for nuclear submarines, deep submersibles, etc., corrosion-resistant structural parts of offshore oil drilling platforms, resistant to seawater and salt spray corrosion, and with reduced maintenance costs.
  4. Automotive manufacturing: Exhaust pipes used in high-performance cars or drive rings for racing cars can withstand high stresses at high speeds while significantly reducing weight and improving fuel efficiency.
  5. Innovation Field: Used in low-temperature engineering components in superconducting equipment, it can still maintain stable mechanical properties and deformation resistance in ultra-low temperature environments.

Process

(1) Through vacuum arc melting and processing, titanium alloy ingots with uniform composition and high purity are obtained.

(2) The ingot is cut into billets of specified sizes according to the process requirements, and forging is carried out in multiple fires.

(3) Heat treatment is used to eliminate forging stress, stabilize the structure, and give the final mechanical properties.

(4) Turning, milling, and other processing of the heat-treated blank to remove surface scales and defects to achieve the dimensional tolerance and surface roughness required by the drawings.

(5) According to customer needs, pickling, sandblasting, or electropolishing can be carried out to obtain a specific surface condition.

(6) Quality inspection before shipment, such as non-destructive testing, mechanical property testing, chemical composition analysis, visual inspection, etc.
